Shrimparium Instructions

The Shrimparium is simple to set up and maintain. Everything you need is included, and these shrimp can thrive for over 20 years with minimal care.

Materials Included:
Black Volcanic Rock or CaribSea Aragonite White Sand (pre-installed in the Glass-Orb).
10 Hawaiian Red shrimp.
Freeze-dried spirulina for starter food (green powder in vial).
Black Sea Fan.

Setup Instructions

Sand and Rocks: The rocks or sand are already in the Glass-Orb and have been thoroughly cleaned.

Waiting Period: Wait 24 hours after setup before adding the shrimp to allow the sediment in the Glass-Orb to settle.

Adding Shrimp: After 24 hours, add the shrimp directly to the prepared Glass-Orb.
Sea Fan: After shrimp are added the Sea Fan can be adjusted with a straw or long utensil.

The water may remain slightly cloudy for 1–3 days, but this will clear up naturally.

Maintenance

Feeding: Feed the shrimp twice a week, using a very small amount of the provided spirulina (about ¼ of a grain of rice). Wet the end of a toothpick and dip it into the green spirulina powder about a quarter inch. What sticks is an ideal amount.

After 6 weeks, natural algae and biofilm will grow. At this point, feeding can be discontinued, as the shrimp will sustain themselves on biofilm and algae. DO NOT OVER FEED!

Water Evaporation:
Replenish evaporated water with distilled, RO, or filtered freshwater. Avoid using tap water. Brackish water salt content remains stable as water evaporates, so no additional salt is needed.

Lighting: Ensure the Glass-Orb is kept in a well-lit area but avoid direct sunlight, as it can harm the shrimp. If green algae starts to build up- move Shrimparium to lower light location.

Waste Breakdown: The shrimp’s waste is minimal and supports algae growth, ensuring a natural and self-sustaining ecosystem.

Important Notes
Avoid overfeeding, as this can upset the natural balance.
Handle the Glass-Orb with care to avoid disturbing the shrimp or the ecosystem.
The shrimp are hardy and require little intervention once the Shrimparium is established
